Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has asserted that the ongoing illegal arrests, property seizures, and termination of Kashmiri employees by Indian forces will not undermine the Kashmiri people’s determination to achieve freedom.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas expressed strong condemnation for the escalation of what he termed as Indian brutalities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. This statement was issued in Srinagar as the APHC commemorated the martyrs of the Chhota Bazaar massacre, remembering the dozens of civilians killed by Indian troops on June 11, 1991.
Minhas highlighted the indiscriminate firing by Indian troops in the Chhota Bazaar area of Srinagar, which resulted in the deaths of shopkeepers, bystanders, women, and children. He reinforced the APHC’s commitment to continuing the struggle for freedom, honoring the legacy of those who have died in the conflict.
The statement also called on the international community to recognize the severity of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and to pressure India to resolve the conflict in line with the Kashmiri people’s wishes. Moreover, Minhas condemned a recent incident involving a non-Kashmiri student’s derogatory remarks about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), urging the Muslim Ummah and the United Nations to take decisive action against such offenses to prevent future occurrences.
The APHC underscored the worsening conditions in the region following the Indian government’s controversial actions on August 5, 2019, which included the revocation of the area’s special status.
