Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has conveyed its condolences following the passing of Professor Khurshid Ahmed, a prominent leader of Jamaat-e-Islami. The group expressed profound sympathy with his family, emphasizing his significant contributions to the Muslim Ummah and his commitment to Islamic teachings and societal reform.

During a condolence meeting in Islamabad, APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi described Professor Khurshid’s death as a substantial loss. Renowned for his intellectual insight and reasoned discourse, Professor Khurshid was celebrated not only in Pakistan but also across the Islamic world. His passing marks the loss of a leader who championed truth, honesty, and the principles of moderation and tolerance.

Professor Khurshid was a staunch advocate for the Kashmir cause, consistently supporting the right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people. He played a pivotal role in bringing international attention to the Kashmir issue, earning him lasting respect among the Kashmiri community.

In addition to his political work, Professor Khurshid was a globally recognized economist and educationist. He founded the Islamic Foundation in the UK and received numerous accolades for his academic contributions, including Pakistan’s highest civilian honor, the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, and the prestigious King Faisal Award.
