America Urged to Intervene in Kashmir Dispute: Latif Akbar

Islamabad: The Acting President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Latif Akbar, has emphasized that the United States should take an active role in resolving the protracted Kashmir conflict.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, Akbar shared these remarks during a meeting at the President’s House with Beza Shara, a member of the Republican Party Executive Committee, and Chaudhry Abdullah Barsa, CEO of Barsa Group of Companies. He pointed out that India has stationed over a million troops in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, depriving the Kashmiri people of their political and religious freedoms. Akbar also highlighted the serious human rights violations allegedly committed by Indian forces, noting the illegal detention of hundreds of Hurriyat leaders.

He called on the Republican Party Executive Committee member to advocate for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and to raise awareness about their plight within the U.S. Congress. Beza Shara expressed gratitude to Akbar and promised full cooperation in this endeavor. The meeting also touched on issues related to attracting investment to Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
