Ambassador Khalil Hashmi Urges Chinese Firms to Invest in Pakistan

Beijing: Pakistan’s ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, addressed the China-Pakistan Investment Promotion Conference in Beijing, encouraging Chinese businesses to consider investment opportunities in Pakistan. The event, organized by IBI Guolian Gufan Group in partnership with the Pakistan Embassy, Beijing Federation of Industry and Commerce, and local district authorities, saw participation from over 70 Chinese companies across multiple sectors.

According to Press Information Department, the conference followed the Pakistan-China Industrial Cooperation Summit, which was also hosted by IBI earlier this week in Ningbo, Zhejiang province. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to promote Chinese enterprises’ global expansion with a focus on Pakistan.

Ambassador Hashmi emphasized Pakistan’s strategic advantages, including its location, competitive labor costs, and favorable investment policies. He highlighted sectors such as energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, digital economy, and agriculture as areas ripe for investment. He also underscored Pakistan’s potential as a regional hub, granting access to a consumer market of nearly 3 billion people across South Asia, the Gulf, and Central Asia.

The Ambassador praised IBI Guolian Gufan’s decision to establish a Pakistan Digital Economy Headquarters, calling it a significant step towards enhancing digital trade and industrial connectivity between the two nations. He invited enterprises to join the more than 60 companies planning to visit Pakistan in May for the inauguration of the regional office and further business engagements.

IBI President Qian echoed the importance of this partnership, while the Vice Chairman of the Beijing Federation of Industry and Commerce highlighted the conference’s role in turning policy discussions into actionable cooperation. The event reflects ongoing efforts by the Pakistan Embassy and its Consulates in China to mobilize investments in 21 priority sectors.
