Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad Represents Pakistan at UN Memorial Service


New York: The Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, attended the United Nations Annual Memorial Service at the UN headquarters, honoring 136 UN personnel who died in 2025 while performing peacekeeping, development, and humanitarian duties worldwide. Among them was Muhammad Afzal of Pakistan, who was commemorated for his service with the United Nations Population Fund in Addis Ababa.



According to Radio Pakistan, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres led the ceremony, which paid tribute to both peacekeepers and civilian staff who made the ultimate sacrifice. Muhammad Afzal, who died in the line of duty in February of the previous year, was recognized for his dedication and commitment to the values of the United Nations. His service was honored with respect, and condolences were extended to his family and colleagues.
