Brussels: Chairman of the Kashmir Council EU, Ali Raza Syed, has called on the international community to take decisive action against the extrajudicial killings reportedly carried out by Indian forces in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

In a statement from Brussels, Ali Raza Syed cited recent custodial deaths in the districts of Rajouri, Ponch, and Kishtwar as evidence of ongoing human rights violations. According to reports from Kashmir Media Service, the killing of three Kashmiris in Kishtwar district is described by the Indian army as a result of gunfire. However, local accounts suggest that the Indian military was responsible for the deaths during a siege.

The Kashmir Council EU’s Chairman emphasized that such incidents are part of a broader pattern of repression by Indian forces. He noted that these actions include not only extrajudicial killings but also arbitrary arrests during house raids, with women, children, and the elderly living under constant fear and surveillance.

Ali Raza Syed criticized the Indian authorities for allegedly coercing Kashmiris to make statements against the freedom movement, which he argues is a violation of free expression. He deems these tactics as unacceptable and in breach of fundamental human rights.

He urged the international community, including the United Nations and global human rights organizations, to address what he described as systematic violations of international law by India. Stressing the threat the Kashmir conflict poses to regional peace and stability, Ali Raza Syed called for urgent diplomatic pressure on India to halt its actions and to allow the Kashmiri people the right to self-determination as mandated by UN resolutions.
