Waziristan: Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has initiated the production from the Spinwam-1 well in the Waziristan block, marking a significant development in Pakistan’s energy sector. The new well is set to produce forty million cubic feet of gas per day, alongside two hundred and twenty barrels of condensate, contributing to the national energy supplies.

According to Radio Pakistan, the inauguration of the Spinwam-1 well comes as a crucial step in reinforcing the country’s energy security, especially in the wake of disruptions in global supply chains, such as the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Despite challenges like force majeure in LNG supplies, the minister emphasized that Pakistan has maintained a steady supply of petroleum products without experiencing shortages.

The addition of the Spinwam-1 well has increased the total gas supply from the Waziristan block to the national gas network to nearly 100 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD). Ali Pervaiz Malik acknowledged the efforts of local companies in bridging the supply gap and underscored the importance of domestic discoveries in ensuring energy stability.
