Muzaffarabad, January 13, 2023 (PPI-OT):The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, has urged the US to play its role in resolving the Kashmir dispute peacefully in line with the UN Security Council resolutions. The AJK President talking to Bradley Parker, Political Counsellor of the American Embassy, who called on him at his office in Muzaffarabad, today, pointed out that the unresolved Kashmir dispute was the main cause of the worsening political and human rights situation in IIOJK.

He said the human rights situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir had further exacerbated after the Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government repealed the special status of the territory in August 2019. The unilateral actions taken by the Modi regime were in violation of the UN resolutions, he added. Barrister Sultan drew the Biden administration’s urgent attention towards the simmering situation in the region and said that it was high time the world, particularly the US, should play their due role for the resolution of the lingering dispute.
