Islamabad: President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, has openly criticized India for conducting what he describes as “fake and sham elections” in Occupied Kashmir, asserting that such measures cannot obscure the reality of the situation from the global community. The President made these remarks during a comprehensive meeting with dignitaries at the Kashmir House in Islamabad.
According to President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the meeting included discussions with Zahid Iqbal Hashmi, President of the Kashmir Peace Forum International Europe, and other prominent figures. President Chaudhry emphasized that the Kashmiri people remain steadfast in their demand for self-determination and will not be subdued by India’s military presence. He accused the Modi government of imposing Hindutva policies and oppressive measures on the Kashmiri people.
During the meeting, which also saw the attendance of Finance and Rehabilitation Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Akhlaq and Presidential Advisers Sardar Imtiaz Khan and Chaudhry Mehboob Advocate, President Chaudhry called on Kashmiris worldwide to intensify their efforts to bring international attention to their cause. He highlighted the large-scale state terrorism he claims India is perpetrating in Occupied Kashmir, and the strategic demographic changes being orchestrated to install a Hindu Chief Minister.
President Chaudhry affirmed that the struggle for Kashmir’s independence will persist until a resolution is reached through a referendum, echoing the longstanding demand for a plebiscite to determine the region’s future.
