Lahore: Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani convened a meeting with Vice Chancellors from various universities in Lahore to discuss the future of higher education in Pakistan, focusing on academic excellence and institutional development.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting included Vice Chancellors such as Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali of the University of the Punjab, Prof. Dr. Arshad Ali from Multan University of Science and Technology, and Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore. The Acting President emphasized the role of universities as crucial contributors to intellectual growth and national development. He urged institutions to enhance research, critical thinking, and skills development to prepare students for global challenges.
The Vice Chancellors discussed issues like curriculum modernization, faculty development, research funding, and industry-academia linkages. They highlighted the importance of collaboration and partnerships to boost employability and innovation. Mr. Gilani noted that academic programs should align with market needs and national priorities, stressing the need for universities to address socio-economic challenges and promote inclusivity and civic responsibility.
