Quetta: A Labour Day ceremony held in Quetta saw the Acting Chairman Senate pledge comprehensive support for the country’s workforce, emphasizing the crucial role they play in Pakistan’s economic stability and growth. The event was attended by Postmaster General Balochistan Manzoor Ahmed Bangulzai, Secretary General of the Postal Workers Federation Sheikh Shakir Hussain, and a host of other notable figures and labour representatives.
According to Senate of Pakistan, the ceremony included tributes to the martyrs of Chicago and discussions on the challenges faced by workers. The Acting Chairman Senate assured attendees that efforts would be made to address their issues. In his speech, Syedal Khan Nasar highlighted the link between the prosperity of workers and national progress, while reaffirming the Senate’s commitment to pro-labour legislation and policy-making.
The Acting Chairman Senate also praised the government’s initiatives under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which aim to support workers, farmers, and underprivileged communities. He recognized the contributions of the working class to national development and emphasized the dignity of earning a livelihood through hard work. Additionally, he acknowledged the efforts of overseas Pakistani workers in bolstering the national economy and assured that safeguarding their rights is a government priority.
