Islamabad: Acting Chairman Senate, Syedaal Khan Nasar, in a message on International Labour Day, emphasized the significance of May 1 as a day that represents the historic struggle and commitment of workers toward achieving social justice. He highlighted that the labour force is fundamental to the development and progress of any society.
According to Senate of Pakistan, Nasar observed the direct link between Pakistan’s economic growth and the dedication of its labour force. He stressed the importance of fair wages, safe working conditions, and comprehensive social protection for workers. The Acting Chairman noted Parliament’s active role in pro-labour legislation and reaffirmed its commitment to continue these efforts.
Nasar pointed out the government’s initiatives to improve the welfare of workers and underprivileged groups, with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif focusing on providing relief amid economic challenges. He praised the labour class’s contributions to national development and underscored the dignity of earning a livelihood through honest labour, as emphasized in Islam.
He committed to addressing workers’ issues through effective legislation, institutional reforms, and strengthening welfare systems. Nasar also paid tribute to Pakistani workers abroad for their contributions to the national economy and assured the protection of their rights.
