RAWALPINDI: The 99th anniversary of the establishment of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) was marked at a ceremony held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. The event was attended by a number of high-profile guests, including the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan and senior military officials from both nations.

According to Inter Services Public Relations, the ceremony was graced by Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, who served as the Guest of Honour. He was accompanied by Major General Wang Zhong, the Defence Attaché of China, alongside other officials from the Chinese Embassy. Senior officers from Pakistan’s army, navy, and air force were also present to commemorate the occasion.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, extended greetings to the attendees and congratulated the PLA on its milestone anniversary. He acknowledged the PLA’s contributions to China’s defence, development, and global peace initiatives. The Field Marshal emphasized the strong and resilient relationship between Pakistan and China, noting their shared commitment to regional stability and strategic interests.

In his remarks, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked Field Marshal Munir for hosting the event and recognized the efforts of the Pakistan Armed Forces in combating terrorism. He reiterated China’s continued support for Pakistan and highlighted the importance of their strategic partnership, which is poised to grow stronger in the coming years.
