Srinagar: A fire at an Islamic seminary in Pulwama district of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir claimed the life of a 12-year-old student and injured six others, according to reports from Kashmir Media Service.
The fire broke out at Darul Uloom Shah Hamdan in the Tral area during the night between Saturday and Sunday. The victim has been identified as Yasir Bashir from Kuchmulla Tral.
The blaze inflicted significant damage to the seminary’s structure, causing panic and leading to a large-scale evacuation. Local residents played a pivotal role in rescuing dozens of students, while the injured, who suffered burn injuries of varying degrees, were transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
In a separate incident, Ghulam Hassan Lone, a 51-year-old Kashmiri man, died after a motorcycle struck him in the Sodal area of Jalandhar, Punjab. Lone was from the Kralpora area in Kupwara district and was working as a seasonal shawl seller in Punjab.
