Zhob District Takes Steps to Address Educational Challenges and Teacher Absenteeism

Zhob: A significant meeting of the District Education Group took place under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner of Zhob, focusing on enhancing the local education system. Key issues such as the functionalization of non-performing schools and the rationalization of teacher assignments were addressed, with decisive actions taken to improve educational operations in the district.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the meeting, led by the Deputy Commissioner, gathered various education officials including the District Education Officer (DEO) of Zhob. A primary agenda was the activation of previously inactive schools and addressing chronic absenteeism among teachers. In recent efforts during August and September, seven inactive schools with only one teacher began operations again through the placement of trainee teachers from the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD).

The DEO updated the forum on the progress concerning absentee teachers following decisions made in August. A report highlighted actions against 38 longstanding absentee teachers, with many rejoining their duties recently. The DEO assured that the remaining cases would be addressed in the coming days. Additionally, a fresh report identified 13 teachers still absent from duty. The education group decided that these teachers must either justify their absences or face legal repercussions.

This meeting marks a crucial step towards rectifying educational challenges in Zhob, aiming to ensure that all schools are functional and staffed by committed teachers. The district’s approach to handling teacher absenteeism through both reintegration and accountability measures indicates a comprehensive strategy to improve educational standards and outcomes for students.
