Zero Tolerance for Illegal Parking in Islamabad: ITP Crackdown Intensifies

ISLAMABAD: In a bid to streamline traffic flow and uphold road discipline, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has launched a stringent campaign against illegal parking across the city. This initiative follows directives from Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad, Captain (retd) Syed Zeeshan Haider, aimed at enhancing the integrated traffic system and enforcing traffic laws without exception.

As part of the crackdown, the ITP has targeted drivers who park in no-parking zones or obstruct footpaths. A dedicated unit has been established to focus on illegal parking in shopping malls, markets, and commercial hubs throughout Islamabad.

CTO Haider has instructed all zonal Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to enforce traffic regulations rigorously. He underscored the necessity of maintaining road discipline and ensuring that parking is confined to designated areas in shopping districts.

Haider emphasized the rights of pedestrians to unobstructed footpaths, stating that any encroachment or violation in this regard will be met with zero tolerance. Facilities will be enhanced for citizens visiting commercial centers to encourage compliance with parking rules.

The CTO also appealed to the public to cooperate with the Islamabad Police by adhering to traffic laws, thereby contributing to the smooth functioning of the city’s traffic management system.
