Islamabad: The Coordinator to the Prime Minister for Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, emphasized the essential role of youth in crafting climate change strategies at the National Youth Climate Summit on Tuesday. She praised young leaders for their efforts in raising awareness and proposing solutions for climate change.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, Ms. Romina underlined the importance of closing communication gaps among provinces and stakeholders to address climate issues effectively. She highlighted the media’s role in raising awareness and encouraged a collaborative approach to learning from best practices across regions and sectors.
Ms. Romina proposed initiatives such as establishing green clubs and societies and integrating climate education into school curricula to prepare future leaders. She stressed Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate change, citing challenges like flooding and heatwaves, and called for urgent action.
She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable policies and strengthening climate adaptation frameworks. Acknowledging the youth’s contributions, she noted their impact through grassroots efforts and digital campaigns, stressing the importance of including youth voices in policy dialogues.
The Ministry of Climate Change aims to support youth in climate literacy and research. Ms. Romina urged summit participants to collaborate in combating climate change, emphasizing collective responsibility across all sectors. She concluded by thanking the Pak Mission Society and attendees for their dedication to this critical issue.
