Pallandri: A youth conference titled “Syed Ali Gilani: Legacy, leadership and resistance” was held today at Khan Muhammad Khan Post Graduate College for Boys, drawing a crowd of 250-300 attendees. The event, organized under the auspices of the Institute of Multi-Track Dialogue, Diplomacy, and Development Studies, commemorated the eve of the third martyrdom anniversary of Syed Ali Gilani, reflecting on his contributions to the Kashmir resistance movement.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the conference began with a recitation from the Holy Quran and the playing of the national anthem. The agenda focused on the life and enduring impact of Syed Ali Gilani, emphasizing his commitment to justice and unity among various groups within the region. Speakers from diverse backgrounds shared insights into Gilani’s multifaceted contributions, ranging from political activism to educational advancement.
Nimra Maqsood, a research scholar, highlighted Gilani’s role in leading the resistance movement and his efforts to unify different groups under a common cause. Professor Masood provided a historical perspective on Gilani’s political engagements and his use of education as a tool for resistance, noting his leadership style that melded firmness with compassion.
Social Activist Arshad Nadeem spoke about Gilani’s grassroots mobilization and global human rights advocacy, which significantly influenced the youth. Professor Nouman Siddiqui explored the philosophical aspects of Gilani’s resistance and his political thought, while Justice Hameed discussed the legal challenges Gilani faced and his contributions to strengthening local legal institutions.
The conference not only served as a remembrance of Syed Ali Gilani’s legacy but also as an educational platform for the youth, inspiring them to uphold the principles of self-determination and unity that he championed throughout his life.
