Islamabad: In a significant collaborative effort, the Youth Forum for Kashmir (YFK) and Radio Pakistan hosted a special session to advocate for victims of sexual violence in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the event brought together a diverse panel, including APHCAJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, writer Dr. Farooq Adil, Barrister Sundas Malik, Ms. Afshan Tehseen, Saeed Ahmed Sheikh, the Director General of Radio Pakistan, and Zaman Bajwa from YFK. The session focused on raising awareness and fostering dialogue on the critical issue of sexual violence in the region.
Panelists presented harrowing narratives from victims, detailing cases involving individuals from an 8-year-old girl to a 60-year-old woman, to highlight the widespread and egregious nature of these abuses perpetrated primarily by the Indian armed forces. The discussions underscored the urgency of addressing these human rights violations and reinforced the community’s dedication to supporting the affected women of IIOJK.
The well-attended event demonstrated the community’s strong commitment to combating these injustices and provided a powerful impetus for continued advocacy and support for the victims of sexual violence in IIOJK.
