ISLAMABAD: The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) recently hosted a meeting with the Yango International team to discuss the integration of Yango’s digital services, including ride-hailing and delivery, into the Pakistani market. The meeting focused on the potential benefits of Yango’s entry, which is expected to enhance competition and offer more choices to consumers.
According to a statement by Competition Commission of Pakistan, the meeting, chaired by Mr. Salman Amin, Member of the Office of International Affairs at CCP, included presentations by Yango International representatives Mr. Mikhail Voronin, Head of Antitrust and Platform Regulation, and Mr. Andrey Zakataev, Head of International Antitrust Practice. They outlined Yango’s global operations spanning 37 countries with a user base of over 150 million, emphasizing their three-tiered ride-hailing model.
Mr. Amin acknowledged the significance of international players like Yango entering Pakistan’s market. He emphasized the growing importance of consumer protection and transparency in digital marketing and noted that Yango’s participation could stimulate fair competition, benefiting both consumers and the economy.
The meeting also highlighted the potential impact of Yango Bazaar and Yango Delivery in expanding Pakistan’s digital commerce sector. Yango committed to maintaining fair business practices and compliance with regulatory standards, appreciating the CCP’s role in ensuring a fair competitive environment.
The CCP reiterated its dedication to promoting competition and preventing anti-competitive practices to foster a transparent marketplace. This commitment aims to attract more international and local investments, contributing to Pakistan’s economic growth.
