XINJIANG PRODUCTION AND CONSTRUCTION CORPS LEADER DISCUSSES TRADE AND CONNECTIVITY WITH PRIME MINISTER KAKAR

Islamabad, Mr. Li Yifei, Deputy Party Secretary of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China and the Party Secretary of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC), met with Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar in Urumqi. The discussions revolved around enhancing bilateral ties, deepening trade and connectivity, and the critical role of Xinjiang as the commencement of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to a news release by Press Information Department, Expressing gratitude towards the Chinese people’s warmth and the Communist Party of China’s (CPC) unwavering support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and economic progression, Prime Minister Kakar reflected on his recent engagements with the Chinese leadership in Beijing. He emphasized the unbreakable bond between Pakistan and China, referring to the nations as “iron brothers, trusted partners, and reliable friends.”

Highlighting the cultural and historical connections between Xinjiang and Gilgit-Baltistan, the Prime Minister accentuated Xinjiang’s significance as the CPEC’s starting point. He further articulated the imperative of intensifying trade, connectivity, and cultural relationships between Xinjiang and the adjacent Pakistani regions.

In recognition of XPCC’s substantial institutional relationships with Pakistan and its contributions to Xinjiang’s peace and development, Prime Minister Kakar extended an invitation to XPCC. He urged the organization to consider ventures and investment possibilities within Pakistan, encompassing sectors such as industrial development, tourism, agriculture, and minerals and mining.

In response, Deputy Party Secretary Li Yifei affirmed China’s view of Pakistan as a vital economic ally, reiterating the commitment to expand trade and connectivity bonds. Moreover, he expressed the Xinjiang government’s eagerness to collaborate with Pakistan, particularly through enhancing trade, connectivity, and interpersonal relationships via the Khunjerab-Sost border crossing.
