Paris: President of the International Kashmir Peace Forum France, Zahid Iqbal Hashmi, has issued a strong condemnation of the actions taken by Indian forces in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He called for a global intervention to address what he describes as severe human rights violations in the region.

Speaking to the media, Hashmi highlighted the escalating situation in IIOJK, particularly since 2019, when he claims that the Indian government’s policies have severely oppressed the Kashmiri population. The measures taken, he argues, have systematically stripped the people of their fundamental rights. He emphasized that these actions should not be forgotten and called for the reinstatement of Kashmir’s special status to ensure the well-being of its residents.

Hashmi urged the international community to dispatch a fact-finding mission to Jammu and Kashmir. The mission would aim to investigate the reported human rights abuses and violations of international law in the area, which is recognized globally as a disputed territory.

Additionally, Hashmi pointed out dissatisfaction among India’s Muslim population, stating that 240 million Muslims have rejected the Waqf Act, asserting it does not serve their interests. His comments underscore the broader discontent with policies perceived to be against the Muslim community in India.

The call for international attention and investigation highlights ongoing tensions and the need for dialogue regarding the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
