Rawalpindi: World Post Day is being observed today with various programs organized by Pakistan Post to highlight the day’s significance and the postal service’s contributions to social and economic development. The day, established by the 1969 Universal Postal Congress in Tokyo, commemorates the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union’s founding in 1874.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, this year’s theme, ‘150 years of enabling communication and empowering peoples across nations,’ underscores the postal service’s pivotal role in everyday life and its impact on global development. The celebration in Rawalpindi includes a flag hoisting ceremony at the General Post Office at 10 am, followed by a stamp exhibition. Postmaster General Northern Punjab, Muhammad Zaheer, will attend as the chief guest, marking the event’s importance.
