World Bank Project Launches in Bajaur to Boost Agriculture and Development

Bajaur, In an effort to foster development, prosperity, and enhance agricultural practices in tribal areas, a World Bank project was inaugurated in Bajaur, aiming to revolutionize the local agricultural sector. The ceremony, attended by notable officials and a large number of farmers, marked the beginning of a new chapter for the region’s agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability. Muhammad Tahir, Additional Secretary Agriculture and Project Director, emphasized the initiative’s focus on modernizing agriculture through advanced technologies and training for landowners to increase crop productivity.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the project aspires to provide employment and business opportunities by promoting modern agricultural techniques such as tunnel farming and vertical net farming. The event was graced by the presence of Deputy Commissioner Anwarul Haq, Agriculture Officer Dr. Subhanuddin, and representatives from the World Bank, the Agriculture Department, and other sectors. The commitment to modernize farming practices through the provision of contemporary machinery and technology was highlighted, intending to make agriculture more beneficial and productive for local farmers.

The project’s inauguration also featured a symbolic tree-planting campaign by Muhammad Tahir and Deputy Commissioner Anwarul Haq, formally launching an initiative aimed at contributing to regional development and environmental health. This initiative represents a significant step towards realizing the potential of tribal areas in agriculture, setting a precedent for future development projects in the region.
