World Bank Delegation Engages with Pakistan’s IT Minister on Digital Economy Enhancement Project.


Islamabad: A high-level delegation of the World Bank, led by Practice Manager for Digital Development in the South Asia Region, Ms. Vyjaynati T. Desai, met with Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, to discuss the Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP) and its implementation. The meeting, which also included Secretary IT Zarrar Hasham Khan and Special Secretary IT and Telecom Division Azfar Manzoor, focused on matters related to digitalization.



According to Press Information Department, Minister Shaza Fatima highlighted the ongoing steps for digitalization in Pakistan, emphasizing the government’s commitment to digital transformation under the Prime Minister’s vision. She underscored the importance of the private sector’s role in leading the digitalization process and affirmed that the government is providing full support to facilitate this. The Minister also stressed that DEEP is a critical project, receiving significant attention for its implementation.



The World Bank delegation expressed appreciation for the government’s initiatives towards digitalization, and both parties agreed to continue their collaboration on various phases of the Digital Economy Enhancement Project. The meeting was also attended by Member IT Syed Junaid Imam and Member Telecom Muhammad Jahanzeb Rahim.
