Woman gang-raped in Rajasthan

Bhilwara, September 10, 2023 (PPI-OT): A woman was gang-raped and naked by a group of men in Rajasthan state in India. The woman has said that the accused abducted her while she was out on a walk, took her to a secluded place and physically abused her before gang-raping in Gangapur Bhilwara city of the state.

The woman in her report said that she managed to escape the crime scene, though she could not take her clothes along. As she sought help on the streets stark naked, many dismissed her as a deranged woman, refusing to help.

After hours of ordeal, some villagers offered her clothes to cover her body and informed the police. The woman said she knew one of the three accused.

Bhilwara Additional Superintendent of Police Vimal Singh Nehra said that one of the accused had called the woman before the crime, asking to meet her. The woman had refused, though they caught her while she was out on a walk and committed the crime, he said. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has gathered evidence from the scene, including the victim’s broken bangles and the motorcycle on which she was kidnapped.

Several people staged a protest outside the office of Deputy Superintendent of Police, demanding justice for the woman.
