Usta Muhammad: The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health has confirmed the presence of wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) in an environmental sample from Usta Muhammad. The detection highlights the ongoing challenges in the fight against polio in the region.

According to Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme, the positive result was obtained from a sewage sample collected on October 14. Health authorities emphasize the importance of vaccination, urging parents and caregivers to ensure that children receive two drops of the oral polio vaccine to protect against the virus’s debilitating effects.
