Widespread Protests in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir Demand Arrest of Hindutva Priest for Blasphemous Remarks

Srinagar: Widespread protests have taken place in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) following blasphemous comments made by Hindutva priest Yati Narsinghanand. Demonstrators from various districts, including Srinagar, Budgam, and Baramulla, have called for immediate legal action against the priest.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the protests were triggered after congregational prayers. Crowds gathered across multiple locations, demanding Narsinghanand’s arrest and criticizing the BJP-led government’s failure to respond to the priest’s inflammatory statements. The protests, coordinated by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, also spread to Muslim-majority areas in the Jammu region like Rajouri and Poonch.

Protest speakers condemned the priest’s long history of anti-Muslim rhetoric and criticized the central government for its apparent complacency, which they argue reflects an implicit endorsement of the offensive remarks. They emphasized the impact of such comments on global Muslim communities and the overall religious harmony in the region. The speakers have made a strong appeal to the Indian authorities, urging them to take significant measures against such divisive figures to uphold communal peace.
