Srinagar, June 05, 2023 (PPI-OT): Hurriyat leaders and organizations have said that Indian government’s claims of carrying out mega power projects are, in fact, not meant to benefit Kashmiris, but to exploit their resources as it has been happening in the past. The leaders and organizations made the statement in reaction to the announcement by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Indian Minister of State, that New Delhi is going to complete the region’s major power projects, generating around 6,000 MW in Kishtwar.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said this after a meeting to review the progress of various hydroelectric power projects in the Kisthwar and Doda districts.
The Hurriyat leaders and organizations said that while abrogating Article 370, the Modi regime had made tall claims of ushering in a period of development and prosperity, which, the Kashmiri people are witnessing in terms of unending raids, crackdowns and cordon and search operations in the territory.
The leaders and organizations said that Kashmiri people are facing long spells of power shutdowns while being forced to pay hefty bills generated by newly-installed smart meters.
