When there’s punishment for speaking truth, falsehood is in power: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, November 17, 2021 (PPI-OT):While slamming Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for putting gags on press freedom across India, Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi, has said that it was quite clear that falsehood was in power.

In a tweet in connection with National Press Day which is celebrated every year in India on November 16 in honour of the establishment of the Press Council of India (PCI), Rahul Gandhi said, “When there’s punishment for speaking the truth, it’s clear that falsehood is in power.”

The video that Rahul Gandhi shared on his twitter handle, shows the arrests and attacks on journalists in many places including Tripura along with reports on the incidents. After two journalists who covered recent incidents of violence in Tripura were arrested by the police, Rahul Gandhi said that the BJP government was “murdering” journalism.
