Westerly Wave to Bring Rain and Thunderstorms Across Regions

Islamabad: A westerly wave is set to impact the upper and central regions of the country starting on the night of May 7, bringing rain, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms, according to the National Weather Forecasting Centre. This development is expected to affect various regions until mid-May.

The meteorological office has projected that Kashmir will experience rain, thunderstorms, and occasional heavy rainfall, with potential hailstorms from May 7 through May 12. Areas such as Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, and Rawalakot are expected to be among those affected.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, rain and thunderstorms are anticipated between May 8 and May 12, with areas including Diamir and Skardu being particularly impacted.

Punjab, including the capital city of Islamabad, is forecasted to experience rain, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms from the night of May 7 to May 11. Cities like Lahore and Rawalpindi are included in the forecast, while southern and central regions like Multan and Faisalabad will see similar weather from May 8 to May 10.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is also on alert for rain and thunderstorms with potential heavy falls and hailstorms from May 7 to May 12, affecting regions such as Peshawar and Swat. Additional areas like Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan will experience these conditions from May 8 to May 10.

Balochistan will see rain and thunderstorms from the evening of May 7 to May 10, impacting cities including Quetta and Zhob.

In Sindh, the forecast predicts rain and thunderstorms from the evening of May 8 to May 10, affecting regions such as Sukkur and Larkana.

The weather system is driven by moist currents expected to penetrate central and southern parts of the country, leading to the anticipated weather patterns.
