Karachi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government of attempting to impose its party colours, notably saffron, on various national institutions. This includes the Indian cricket team, whose practice jerseys have recently turned saffron.
According to the Kashmir Media Service, Speaking at the inauguration of Jagadhatri Puja in Posta Bazaar, Central Kolkata, Banerjee highlighted the BJP’s influence in the colour scheme changes. She pointed out the introduction of saffron not only in the cricket team’s practice jerseys but also in the painting schemes of Metro stations across the country.
Banerjee voiced her opposition to these changes, commenting on the BJP’s efforts to infuse the saffron colour, symbolically associated with the party, into diverse aspects of national life.
