Islamabad, A westerly wave currently affecting the western and upper parts of Pakistan is expected to persist in the upper regions for the next 24 hours, bringing a mix of weather conditions across the country. The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Islamabad forecasts cold and dry weather in most plain areas, with cloudy skies and precipitation in the northern regions.
According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, the weather on Saturday is anticipated to be cold and dry in most plains, while the upper areas may experience cloudy conditions. Rain, accompanied by snowfall over the mountains, is likely in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, and Kashmir. Light rain or drizzle may also occur in the Potohar region and northeastern Punjab. Fog or smog is expected in plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh during the night.
For Sunday, the forecast predicts mainly cold and dry weather in most plain areas, with partly cloudy skies in the upper regions. Rain with light snowfall over the mountains is likely in Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir. Fog or smog occurrences are expected in the morning and night hours in plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh.
The past 24 hours saw cold and dry weather in most parts of the country, with very cold conditions in the northern areas. Cloudy weather and isolated rain were observed in northwestern Balochistan and Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours included Balochistan: Samungli 03mm, Kalat, Quetta 02mm, Dalbandin 01mm; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Mirkhani, Drosh 01mm. The lowest minimum temperatures recorded today were Leh -11°C, Skardu -06°C, Kalam, Gilgit, Gupis -04°C, Baramulla, Astore -03°C, and Dir -02°C.
