Weather Update: Variable Conditions Expected Across Pakistan

Islamabad, The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Islamabad has released the latest weather update for Pakistan.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, a westerly wave is currently affecting the upper parts of the country and is expected to continue influencing the weather for the next 24 hours.

For Thursday, most upper regions of Pakistan are expected to experience partly cloudy weather. However, rain and thunderstorms, accompanied by snowfall over the hills, are anticipated in the Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.

Looking ahead to Friday, the forecast predicts cold and dry weather in most parts of the country. Despite these predominantly dry conditions, isolated rain is expected in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Additionally, smog and fog are likely to occur in upper Sindh, as well as the plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The past 24 hours have seen cold and dry weather prevailing over most parts of Pakistan. Notable exceptions include upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, where rain and thunderstorms were recorded. Specific rainfall measurements include 5 mm in Kalam, 4 mm in Malamjabba, and 3 mm in Balakot, among other areas. The lowest recorded minimum temperatures were -4°C in Leh and -1°C in Skardu, Gupis, and Kalat.
