We cannot close our eyes to Climate Change, SAPM Shaza Fatima Khawaja

Islamabad, September 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Shaza Fatima Khawaja held a meeting with the representatives of the British Council. Matters related to the rehabilitation of flood-affected youth were discussed during the meeting.

SAPM highlighted the important issues faced by the people of Pakistan. Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that the world needs to take climate change seriously as it will affect everyone in the future. SAPM further said that it is Pakistan’s right to seek assistance from the world in tackling climate change. Highlighting the issue of illiteracy SAPM narrated that Pakistan has the largest out-of-school population.

Prime Minister’s Youth Programme is looking forward to contributing to raise the literacy rate of Pakistan. Shaza Fatima Khawaja also spoke about the ongoing energy crisis and said that Government is planning to solarize electric products. Especially in villages and downtrodden areas, we will solarize the tube wells, this will ultimately play an integral role in combating the country’s ongoing energy crisis, said Shaza Fatima.

British council assured financial support to the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme in different initiatives to benefit the people from far-flung areas. Representatives of the British council highlighted that a lot of financial issues have emerged after covid-19 and their organization has played a significant role in tackling the adverse impacts of the pandemic.

SAPM appreciated the support of the British council in the Prime Minister’s Green Youth movement project and said that the establishment of 137 gym clubs in collaboration with the Bristish council will have long-lasting positive impacts on the environmental sector of the country as this project is raising awareness about the very important issue of climate change among youth from all across Pakistan.
