Water Levels Stable Across Punjab Rivers Amid Monsoon Season

Lahore: Current reports indicate that the flow of water in Punjab’s rivers, streams, dams, and barrages remains stable, with Mangala Dam at 58% capacity and Tarbela Dam at 69%.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the water level in Indian dams along the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers is also reported at 39%. With ongoing monsoon rains expected to continue through July 31, localized rainfall is anticipated across most districts of Punjab within the next 24 hours. DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia stated that comprehensive preparations are in place to address any potential flood risks, particularly in vulnerable districts. The PDMA Control Room and District Emergency Operation Centers are actively monitoring weather conditions around the clock.

Residents are urged to exercise caution during the rainy season, especially in light of recent incidents where two civilians lost their lives due to the collapse of dilapidated buildings. Authorities advise against unnecessary travel in poor weather conditions, cautioning the public to avoid contact with electric wires and poles. In emergencies, the public should contact the PDMA helpline at 1129.
