Waheed Parra Highlights Crisis in Kashmir’s Horticulture Sector

Srinagar: Waheed ur Rehman Parra, Youth President of the People’s Democratic Party, has raised alarms over the declining state of the horticulture industry in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, attributing the downturn to administrative neglect and operational inefficiencies.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Parra criticized the local horticulture department for its inability to modernize and maintain essential infrastructure, including storage facilities that remain outdated. He pinpointed environmental pollution and the lack of adequate market facilities as additional factors exacerbating the industry’s troubles.

Highlighting the urgent need for infrastructural improvements and pollution control measures, Parra emphasized that the horticulture sector is a cornerstone of the local economy, vital for the livelihoods of thousands of families in the region. He warned that without immediate intervention, the industry might face an irreversible decline, further endangering the economic stability of numerous communities.
