Islamabad, In a landmark achievement, the Wafaqi Mohtasib of Pakistan has successfully resolved 193,028 complaints out of a record 194,099 filed against government departments for maladministration in 2023. This significant accomplishment marks an 18% increase in complaints processed and a 22% rise in resolutions compared to the previous year, showcasing the institution’s commitment to providing speedy and cost-free justice.
According to Press Information Department, Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, the Wafaqi Mohtasib, shared these figures while presenting the Annual Report of the Federal Ombudsman to President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The report highlights the Ombudsman’s efforts in utilizing modern technology to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of its services, evidenced by a 47% increase in online complaints and a 21% rise in complaints received through the Mobile App compared to 2022.
The report further elaborates on the Ombudsman’s initiatives to extend its reach to remote areas, including the establishment of new regional offices, the conduct of Khuli Katcheries, the introduction of the Informal Resolution of Disputes mechanism, and the inspections by Mohtasib’s teams. These efforts have not only facilitated the swift resolution of cases but have also contributed to a surge in complaint registrations.
Additionally, the office dedicated to Overseas Pakistanis within the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat has processed an unprecedented 202,367 complaints received through Pakistan Missions abroad and One Window Facilitation Desks at all international airports in the country.
President Asif Ali Zardari commended the Mohtasib’s performance and underscored the importance of further expanding its outreach to ensure that a greater number of citizens can avail of its services, reinforcing the government’s dedication to accountability and transparency.
