Vote for ‘development’, Rana Ayub tweets on death sentence to 38 Muslims

New Delhi, February 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):Rana Ayyub, renowned Indian journalist and opinion columnist with The Washington Post, in a tweet in the name of “The Instagram page of BJP Gujarat” shared a caricature depicting several Muslims being hanged with a single rope.

The caricature, perhaps, demonstrates the death sentence to 38 persons, almost all Muslims, awarded by a special court in the 2008 Ahmedabad bomb blasts case under black law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and 302 of the Act in Gujarat state of India.

While taunting the Modi government’s anti-Muslim actions, Rana Ayub in her Tweet wrote: “Let us all keep pretending that the majority of this country votes for ‘development’. It is worth mentioning here that the Indian police and agencies arrested Muslims, most of them were students and businessmen, hailing from different states of India in the case. The 11 Muslims were sentenced to life imprisonment.
