Violence in Manipur Leads to Injuries of Seven Indian Forces’ Personnel

Imphal, In a recent escalation of violence in Manipur, seven personnel of the Indian forces were injured in an attack at Moreh in the Tengnoupal district. This incident follows a period of heightened unrest in the state, including the recent killing of four persons in Thoubal.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the injured personnel were part of a team en route to a search operation when the attack occurred. The incident has intensified the security situation in the region, coming just a day after the Thoubal killings, which prompted authorities to enforce a stricter night curfew.

Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar reported that the wounded security personnel were immediately taken to different hospitals for treatment. Five of them were airlifted to Imphal and are receiving medical care at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences. The remaining two are being treated in Moreh. Among the injured, four are identified as commandos of the Manipur Police, while the others are from the Border Security Force.

This attack is part of a larger pattern of ethnic violence in the state that has been ongoing since May of the previous year. The conflict, primarily between the Metei (mainly Hindus) and Kuki-Zo (majority Christians) communities, has resulted in approximately 200 deaths and the displacement of over 50,000 people. The situation in Manipur continues to be tense, with security forces on high alert following the latest attack.
