Imphal, In a series of violent incidents, five civilians have lost their lives in Manipur, a state in India known for its ongoing unrest.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in Bishnupur district, four individuals Ningthoujam Nabadeep, Oinam Bamonjao, Oinam Manitomba, and Thiyam Somen were reportedly killed by Indian forces disguised as armed men while tilling a farm. Bishnupur’s superintendent of police, Meghachandra Singh, confirmed the recovery of the bodies and their transport for postmortem examination. The incident sparked widespread protests across various parts of the Imphal Valley.
In a separate but related event in Imphal West district, Indian troops fatally shot a 23-year-old Meitei man, Takhelambam Manoranjan. Clashes between protesters and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel resulted in injuries to three BSF members. The state continues to experience tensions and protests in response to these incidents.
