Violence Erupts in Chhattisgarh Following Manipur Unrest

Raipur, Thousands of members of the Scheduled Caste Satnami community clashed with police and set parts of the collectorate building ablaze in Chhattisgarh’s Baloda Bazar district.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesters demanded an inquiry into the desecration of their religious site, the Jaitkham, on May 15-16. They vandalized vehicles and property, alleging that the police were protecting the real culprits. The Jaitkham, a revered symbol of the Satnami community’s spiritual heritage, was vandalized in Giroudhpuri town, sparking outrage and protests. Protesters claim the police are shielding the main culprits.

Home Minister Vijay Sharma and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai have promised a judicial inquiry into the incident, which has strained social harmony in the state. Meanwhile, India’s Manipur state is already facing a volatile situation.
