Lahore, June 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):Vice Chairperson Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission Ch. Waseem Akhtar called on Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Khalid Khursheed to discuss the matters of mutual understanding. Important decisions were taken in the meeting. Vice-Chairperson OPC also met Chief Secretary Gilgit Baltistan Captain (R) Muhammad Asif and exchanged their views on different areas of interest. It has been decided in the meeting that the commission on the format of Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission shall be established in Gilgit Baltistan. Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission will provide assistance to the GB administration regarding the passing of an Act from the respective provincial assembly.
It is pertinent to mention that Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission is one of a kind commission working only in Punjab. Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Khalid Khursheed said that the establishment of such a commission in Gilgit Baltistan will set an example for other provinces and it will be a step forward in addressing the grievances of Overseas Pakistanis living abroad. It was also decided in a meeting that Vice Chairperson Overseas Pakistanis Commission Ch. Waseem Akhtar will encourage investors to invest in Gilgit Baltistan’s industries and tourism.
Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Khalid Khursheed while lauding the work done by OPC in the provision of relief to Overseas Pakistanis said that the commendable work done by OPC should reach to other provinces and the commissions on same format must be established in every province of this country. Moreover, it is decided that stakeholders will meet again so the SOPs and TORs can be discussed for the establishment of the Overseas Pakistanis Commission in Gilgit Baltistan.
