Islamabad, The Group Chief Executive Officer of VEON, Mr. Kaan Terzioglu, along with Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim, met with the Caretaker Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Dr. Umar Saif, to discuss matters related to the telecom sector and mutual interests.
According to Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, the meeting focused on enhancing telecom services in Pakistan. Dr. Umar Saif emphasized that providing quality telecom services to the public is a top priority, with ongoing steps toward improved connectivity in the country. He mentioned that a tech-neutral spectrum would soon be auctioned to facilitate better telecom services.
Dr. Saif also expressed his commitment to launching 5G technology and assured that the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication would provide full support to the telecom industry. Further, he revealed plans to make smart mobile phones available on easy installment plans soon. Recognizing Pakistan’s conducive investment atmosphere, Dr. Saif encouraged Jazz to invest in sectors like e-agriculture, e-education, and e-health. He also lauded VEON Group for its contributions in the technology field and efforts to provide smart phones.
Kaan Terzioglu and Aamir Ibrahim emphasized the importance of stable telecom systems as a foundation for a digital ecosystem and the economic stability of the country. The meeting, which also saw the participation of senior officers from the Ministry of IT, underscored the significance of ongoing collaborations between the government and telecom industry leaders in advancing Pakistan’s digital infrastructure.
