Jammu: Panic ensued in Rajouri district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir when a member of the Village Defence Guard (VDG), an organization reportedly established by the Indian army, opened fire in the Jamola area.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident caused significant fear among the local residents, particularly as VDGs are predominantly composed of Hindutva activists tasked with targeting pro-freedom individuals and intimidating the Muslim community in the hilly districts of the Jammu region.
Following the shooting, Indian troops initiated a search operation in the affected area, which was still underway at the time of the last reports. Concurrently, Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel conducted searches in the Hiranagar area of Kathua district after spotting a person in his agricultural field.
