Vandalization Attempt at 400-Year-Old Muslim Shrine Sparks Tension in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, An attempt to vandalize a 400-year-old Muslim shrine in Uttar Pradesh has led to rising tensions in the region. The shrine, dedicated to the Muslim scholar Pathan Shah Baba, faced an attack by groups associated with Hindutva ideologies.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred in Kannauj’s Tajpur Nokas locality, where activists linked to the RSS, BJP, VHP, and Bajrang Dal were reportedly involved in the desecration of the historical shrine. The shrine, located in Sadar Kotwali’s Tajpur Nokas, is a site of significant historical and cultural value, representing over four centuries of the area’s rich heritage.

The news of the shrine’s desecration rapidly spread, prompting a gathering of local Muslims at the site. This act of vandalism has triggered widespread reactions of anger and disappointment among the community.

In response to the incident, a local resident named Imran from Ajay Pal has filed a police report against unidentified individuals at the Sadar Kotwali police station. His report expresses deep concern over the attack on the shrine.

Further escalating the situation, the BJP-led government in Uttar Pradesh has issued a warning to the Muslim community, cautioning against protests or vocal opposition to the incident, with the implication of potential punishment for those who do not comply.
