Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Visits Pakistan to Boost Trade and Investment Ties

Islamabad, Dr. Jamshid Khodjaev, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister for Trade and Investment, has arrived in Pakistan for a two-day visit focused on enhancing bilateral trade and investment relations. This visit marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to strengthen economic ties between the two nations.

According to Press Information Department, during his visit, Dr. Khodjaev is scheduled to meet with senior Pakistani government officials to discuss avenues for cooperation across various sectors. He will also lead a delegation of Uzbek business leaders to meet their Pakistani counterparts, aiming to explore new investment and collaboration opportunities. The visit is critical as Pakistan and Uzbekistan have shared a history of strong economic connections, with bilateral trade experiencing substantial growth in recent years. From 2019-20 to 2022-23, trade between the two countries increased from USD 27 million to USD 126 million, yet this is still below the potential of their bilateral trade. Dr. Khodjaev’s visit is expected to catalyze further growth in trade and investment relations, capitalizing on the complementary strengths and opportunities available in both countries.
