Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Visits Pakistan to Boost Trade and Investment

Islamabad, Dr. Jamshid Khodjaev, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister for Trade and Investment, has arrived in Pakistan for a two-day visit, aiming to strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties. This visit signifies a continued effort to enhance economic cooperation between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

According to Press Information Department, Dr. Khodjaev’s visit includes meetings with senior Pakistani government officials and business leaders. The agenda focuses on increasing cooperation in sectors such as trade and investment. He is also leading a delegation of Uzbek business leaders to explore new investment opportunities and collaborative ventures with their Pakistani counterparts. Despite significant growth in bilateral trade, which has increased from USD 27 million in 2019-20 to USD 126 million in 2022-23, the trade volume remains below its full potential. Dr. Khodjaev’s visit is anticipated to catalyze further enhancement of trade and investment relations between the two countries, capitalizing on their complementary strengths and opportunities in various sectors.
