Islamabad: Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, met with Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly, at the Parliament House. The meeting focused on strengthening ties between the two countries, enhancing parliamentary engagement, and discussing regional developments.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq highlighted the enduring connections between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, rooted in shared faith, culture, and history. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its relationship with Uzbekistan across various sectors.
The Speaker underscored the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in fostering closer connections between the peoples of both nations. He praised the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Group for its role in enhancing parliamentary collaboration.
Sadiq expressed Pakistan’s determination to expand both parliamentary and economic ties with Uzbekistan. He pointed to the potential for increased trade and investment, advocating for regional cooperation to ensure peace and sustainable development.
Ambassador Tukhtaev commended Speaker Sadiq’s efforts in promoting parliamentary diplomacy and strengthening legislative ties. He noted the significance of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to Uzbekistan, which he said invigorated bilateral cooperation.
