Uttar Pradesh Principal Suspended for Permitting Namaz in School

LUCKNOW, A principal of a government primary school in Uttar Pradesh, India, faces suspension following the allowance of a group of students to perform namaz on the school’s premises.

According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service, the suspension of the principal transpired shortly after the occurrence, and a district-level education official asserted that “Offering namaz in school premises is against departmental guidelines.” The decision gained momentum after a video, which appeared to display students offering namaz on school grounds, began circulating widely on social media.

The subsequent investigation, led by Dinesh Katiyar, the block education officer for city area zone-4 in Lucknow, confirmed that the act indeed took place within the school confines. Meera Yadav, the school’s principal, was then promptly suspended under the guidelines of the Uttar Pradesh Government Servant (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1999.

Furthermore, two other educators of the institution, Tehzeeb Fatima and Mamta Mishra, received stern warnings in connection with the event, implicating them as potential accessories to the act, as revealed by the investigating officer.
